East Tilbury and Linford Field Target Club

Competitions Archive -> Rinpoche Cup 2004

Report

The first open shoot of 2004 at ETL took place on Sunday the 9th of May.  It was called the Rinpoche Cup and was sponsored by Rinpoche Pet Care of Grays.  The event will now be an annual charity shoot with perpetual trophies for the winner and runner-up.  This year the monies raised went to the Baby Unit at Basildon Hospital.

It was an overcast but dry day with very little wind, we decided on a fairly casual competition with buddy marshalling and not too strict on timing.  48 competitors entered, the majority from ETL with others from Harriers in the Midlands, a good contingent from Bisley, a few from the rest of the Southeast Region and one from Fenlands.  Thanks goes to all those who took part to make the day worthwhile - especially those who travelled many miles to do so.

The course although not to BFTA rules due to a couple of lanes of silhouettes interspersed with the lanes of the normal knockover field targets, was quite testing.  Cleve Bull had recently acquired a double 15ft ladder so we had more targets up in the clouds than usual, we did have a good smattering of 25mm targets also. Apart from a few hold ups, perhaps being to lenient with the watches, the competition ran very smoothly. Cliff Church even after cutting his zeroing time to a mere hour and a half managed to go round without dropping a single target, well done Cliffy!!  Pity you could not have stayed to the end - the applause was deafening. Some of ETL's new shooters, who's first competition it was, did very well.  There were some very respectful scores considering it was not the easiest of courses - as at ETL we can shoot from all points of the compass, so the wind which did get up slightly came from differing directions all the time.

Thanks goes to all that helped with setting the course on the Saturday, and again for all those that came from far and wide.  Thanks also to Elizabeth Kearey our lady supplying the fuel in the way of food and drink to keep us going.  A big thank you goes to Peter Bridges our sponsor and Director of Rinpoche Pet Care, for his generosity and for presenting the trophies.
