Welcome to the East Tilbury and Linford Field Target Club website. We are an airgun club located in the small village of Linford in Essex.
Situated just a few minutes from the A13, we are a short drive from almost anywhere in south Essex, East London and even Kent. In fact, some of our members travel from far further afield than that.
Whether you are interested in competing in field target competitions or just looking for somewhere to do some quiet plinking in a safe and friendly environment this is the club for you.
Formed in 1994, the club comprises several acres of land encompassing a variety of terrain from undulating open space to woodland with gravel paths providing all year round access. An extensive zeroing/plinking range with sheltered firing points allows shooters the opportunity to set up their equipment or while away a few hours with some informal target shooting. A chronograph is also available to ensure all rifles comply with the 12 ft lbs legal limit for muzzle energy.
A club hut, complete with kitchen, gives members the chance to relax and socialize with others in comfortable surroundings whatever the weather.
We’re affiliated to the BFTA (British Field Target Association) via SEFTA (South East Field Target Association) and we have a BFTA qualified instructor on hand to provide free help and advice to our members. This means the club is ideally placed to provide a safe and responsible environment in which to pursue the engaging sport of Field Target.
Don't have any equipment yet?
Don't worry, come along anyway. If you're in the market looking to pick up your own equipment, there's always people around who are only too happy to give you some advice and help you make informed choices (what to buy, where to get it from). Also, feel free to check out our notice board (in the tea hut), there are usually some good bargains to be found.
Established over 21 years ago, ETL has enjoyed many years of airgun shooting. Our members have a wealth of knowledge and experience. So if you find yourself in need of a little (or lot) of help or advice, on FT, different kinds of rifles or scopes, please ask. Between us, we’ve seen it all, so you won’t have to look hard to find someone who can point you in the right direction.
More than just a hobby
Our club is run by its members purely on a voluntary basis and we're a non-profit organisation. Chances are that once you've been here a while you will want to get involved and help in the club's running. All help is greatly appreciated. We have organised work parties as well as other admin type responsibilities to fill. Once a year we have a formal AGM where the committee is elected by the club’s members, all members are welcome to volunteer to sit on the committee. Aside from that, if you have any ideas for the club, don't be shy, there is always a committee member around to hear any suggestions or comments!
For the more dedicated shooter; Competing in field target competitions can be a real enticing bug. Our members compete in competitions all over the world, and in all weathers. There are many nationally organised league-type events as well as many one-day open events held at clubs all over the country.
The airgun community is definitely a friendly one, and widespread. Check out our links page for links to the forums, the BFTA and all of your other airgun needs.
Why not visit?
There's nothing to lose by dropping by, no obligations to join and your first visit is free. Don’t worry if you haven’t yet bought equipment, in fact that's probably a good thing. Come down and see the different makes / models of air rifles – members are usually happy to show you their equipment and give you real feedback, advise on second hand purchases before you decide which rifle and scope will suit you best.
We enjoy our sport but safety is always paramount and potential members will be given a safety briefing and observed before becoming full members.
We welcome younger members and families, parents are welcome to look on. However they often become tempted into having a go themselves!
If you have any questions, feel free to Contact us. If not, We hope to see you soon.
